Rhythm, harmony and boogie

Family and friends of the choir gathered for a wonderful night of drumming, singing, supper and dancing on 25 August to help raise funds for next year's visit by the African Children's Choir. Aaron Walker from Human Rhythms kick started the Vocal Nosh & Bash with an interactive drumming session which had everyone bashing enthusiastically on their djembe drums. The audience literally had to sing for their supper, which featured a delicious range of home-cooked soups by choir members, before they were back on the dance floor strutting to the Macarena and Nut Bush City Limits . Thank you to everyone who came along for a fun night out and congratulations to all the raffle winners - we raised $2500.00 on the night!

Rainbow Riders chase the sun

Colours of Light
Words by Irene Sunn. Music by M Lamarca.
Performed by Rainbow Riders on 21 August 2012.

Video by Don Hardgrave.

It’s a long dark journey when you’re broken in two
I never feel lonely when I’m alone with you.
I was RED with anger … in deep despair
ORANGE made life easy … easier to bear.

So raise the mast and sail for the sunrise
Together we can chase the sun
So raise the mast and sail for the sunrise
Together we can chase the sun .

YELLOW sunny faces became my happy friends
In open GREEN fields … where freedom never ends
From TURQUOISE waters I began to see
The distant BLUE sky where I long to be.

So raise the mast and sail for the sunrise
Together we can chase the sun
So raise the mast and sail for the sunrise
Together we can chase the sun.

PURPLE coloured mountains lift me closer to Thee
Where I found MAGENTA the love I want to be
Your Light shines brightly and guides so gently
I’m through the darkness and singing in the Light.

So raise the mast and sail for the sunrise
Together we can chase the sun
So raise the mast and sail for the sunrise
Together we can chase the sun
Together we can chase the sun.

Eight of our members  got together to perform the song 'Colours of Light' written by Tenor Irene Sunn.
"I wrote the song in 2010 which describes my journey through life and feel it applies to many of us," said Irene.  "Recently a few of us got together so we could get the message out there."
The eight colours of the rainbow are Kerith, Lenore, Irene, Gaye, Ilyhana, Rosalie, Kathy and Jenny.

Light is life. Walk in hope through the colours of the rainbow in your life. Go ride the rainbow. There’s a sun within your soul.
Indian mystic Ramakrishna said, "The winds of grace are always blowing, but we have to raise our sails."
